The building was bought by Brian and Allison Higginson after they left their property 'Hillcrest' in Kemp Street.
Before becoming a family home, the building was a branch of the Commonwealth Bank.
Seeing the building's potential, the family planned to revitalise it.
Mr Higginson took six months off work to help build, supervise and co-ordinate the extensive renovations planned with the assistance of Junee Shire Council architect and heritage advisor Noel Thomson.
"Alison and our three boys Grant, Trent and Mark all assisted with the renovations," Mr Higginson said.
"Mark said that getting involved in these renovations at 15 years old is what originally got him interested in the building industry," he said.
After the work was completed in 2005 the Higginsons were presented with a community heritage award for the restoration.
"We are only the custodians of these great old heritage buildings while we are alive and we both feel that we have an obligation to protect and preserve them so the next generation can appreciate the quality of the ability of the earlier builders and the building itself," Mr Higginson said.
"These great structures are true testaments to the builders of their time."
The building will be auctioned on Saturday November 29 at 1.30pm.
