Operated by James Thomas McConville from 1914, the hotel was closed in 1998 when the Bankstown Sports Club bought the licence.

"They gave the building back to council for $1 as long as it was used for a community purpose," Broadway Museum Society's Col Kanaley said.

The coloured history of the building, which is heritage listed, will be celebrated along with the history contained within its walls.

"Several ex-owners and descendents of the Broadway Hotel including grandchildren of the first owner will be visiting," he said.

Pioneer skills including woodworking, a blacksmith demonstration and pottery will be on display in the building's rear courtyard.

A parade of vintage and historical clothing from the museum's collection and a "Kid's Korner" with games, face painting and pony rides is also planned in addition to stalls and a camp over lunch for $5.

"Photographs will be taken to display for the next 100 years and there will be musicians on the first floor verandah," Mr Kanaley said.

The Junee Town Band will be among the bands performing.

Celebrating the history of the building is only one of the historical society's goals, with organisers hoping it will encourage locals to have a look at the treasures inside the museum.

"The Broadway Hotel sponsored a number of sports clubs in years past, we'd be happy for clubs to contact us with any memorabilia if they have it," Mr Kanaley said.
