Without the dedicated volunteers who love their sport - nothing happens on field.
Last Friday the Junee rugby league club recognised its standout members and players who have made that vital contribution.
Diesel of the Year Noreen Deacon said she wasn't "big on accolades".
When it comes to volunteering, Deacon has done it all: travelled with the team to away games, worked in the canteen, organised touch footy, worked as treasurer, attended every committee meeting and more.
"The work we do, we do as a team," Deacon said.
"Footballers couldn't play their game without the committee handling administration and raising funds."
President Leo McCarthy said Deacon was one of the club's unheralded members who completed vital work.
"Noreen's one of those people who do the behind-the-scenes work that many people don't know about," McCarthy said.
"I'm certain she doesn't do it for awards but I'm certain she deserved it."
A special award was presented to Chelsea Cowled for her efforts in working for the club by manning the kiosk on game days.
Junee's Alex Deacon and Graham "Sudsy" Oehm won the clubmen of the year award.
Deacon, who accepted the award on behalf of Oehm, said he was humbled by the honour.
"You go on committees to work and not sit on your bum," he said.
He said he was simply doing the job he put his hand up for.
"I'm there because of Tyler and Blake (Sutherland), my two grandsons," he said.
However, it's not just a solo endeavour for Deacon, who along with Oehm works with Mick Smith, Craig Bradley, John Sainsbury and the "old boys" to get things done.
In paying tribute to them, Deacon described the group as a committee within a committee.
"We branch out and get things done," he said.
Deacon said he was looking forward to 2015 and the return of Matt Hands to coach the Diesels in their premiership quest.
