8.20am: More than six months after Lakeside Drive was ripped up, disgruntled residents have pleaded with Wagga City Council to put an end to the road's delay-plagued reconstruction.

On Thursday, residents along the leafy lakeside strip could do nothing but watch as graders, rollers and tip trucks full of dirt went backwards and forwards along the street - again.

8.05am: More arrests in Griffith are likely after a joint drug operation netted a 51-year-old Hanwood man accused of cultivating a commercial quantity of marijuana. 

The man was arrested as part of Strike Force Oceanic, a joint operation into the illicit drug supply in the community which resulted in the seizure of a crop estimated to be worth $6 million.

A 40-year-old Murrami man handed himself to detectives on Thursday afternoon.

7.50am: Tom Eastlake from Young was last night awarded a prestigious Nuffield Scholarship supported by Horticulture Australia Limited, as part of the across industry program with matching funds from the Australian Government.

He will study cherry field handling, packing techniques and packaging materials.

7.35am: In an attempt to quench Australia's thirst for wine, the Department of Primary Industries has welcomed a new viticulturist.

7.20am: Most footballers would be ecstatic to win one premiership in a season, but Griffith's Leon Tiere has the opportunity to claim a rare double.

The barnstorming forward helped the Griffith Blacks win this season's Southern Inland Rugby Union premiership last month and will line up for Griffith Black and Whites in Sunday's Group 20 reserve grade grand final against West Wyalong.

7am: The reintroduction of an enroute payment scheme is good news for Griffith, according to mayor John Dal Broi. 

The initiative will subsidise navigation charges on small country air services.

Councillor Dal Broi said he hoped this would ensure Par Avion's flights to Melbourne would continue.
