Junee was thrashed 32 to 10 by an older Tumut Blues, with coach Rod Hands unforgiving in his assessment of the performance.
"We saved the worst game until last," he said.
Hands said the team made too many mistakes in their own half, giving Tumut a vital field position advantage.
"Our mistakes killed us."
When the Diesels worked their way into Tumut's half, they were able to score and Hands praised the team's fighting spirit.
"We could score when we were down there (in their half)," he said.
"Our boys never gave up, but the early mistakes made it hard for Junee to come back."
Hands highlighted efforts by Lochlan Landrigan and Conner McCauley and Joe McNamara, who played with a well-strapped broken wrist.
While their season is done, Hands said most of the under 18s would be playing in the team again next year.
"Our boys will have a second run at the Wiessel Cup."
The result
Tumut 32 d Junee 10 (Lochlan Landrigan, Conner McCauley tries; C Hands goal)
