Kooringal won the toss and took the first centre pass with Junee struggling at the start of the first quarter.
After their opposition ran out to a four-point lead, Junee notched their first goal with Emma Meale breaking through, taking advantage of her height and positioned herself perfectly under the goal post.
Dee Mace played a solid match in wing defence and was one of the best on court for June.
Amanda Crane struggled to break through Kooringal's defence in goal attack, attracting several penalties from the umpires to the detriment of Junee, but Crane refused to concede.
Coach Rachel Cooper introduced speedster Tamika Moore in the second quarter, taking the fight to Kooringal in the shooting circle - the decision paid off for Junee.
Moore helped Junee recover several goals with help from Kellie Becquet in wing attack.
At half-time the Cowgirls were down by several goals, with Cooper introducing some drastic changes on court.
Lara Tulaga's arrival on court was immediate.
One of Junee's tallest at two metres, Tulaga brought Junee to within a goal of Kooringal.
Kooringal was starting to tire towards the end of the third quarter, but talented centre Meg Evans became much more settled in the third, and did her best to shut down Kooringal's best player, Amanda de Jong.
Circle defender Briony Pope and Bec Gardner did their best against the bigger Kooringal shooters.
During the final break, the Cowgirls trailed by just two goals.
Captain Bec Kemp and shooter Kylee Huard fired the team up and they returned to the court playing to win.
Kooringal appeared fatigued in the fourth quarter, handing Junee the advantage through several errors.
However, when Junee was on the attack the umpire's whistle penalised the players, but the Cowgirls fought on until the final whistle.
Just two points separated the two teams.
Coach Cooper's best on court was awarded to Tamika Moore while Briony Pope and Lara Tulaga were sensational stand outs for the Cowgirls.
