"He caught the train yesterday from Junee to Wagga Wagga and spent the night in Wagga Wagga," Constable Peter Narouz said.
"He has returned back to Junee and is in good spirits and has no reported injuries.
"Thank-you for your assistance."
11am: Junee's James Couchman has disappeared from his home, and police hold grave concerns for his welfare.
Mr Couchman, 79, was last seen leaving his residence around 10am on Tuesday.
"Mr Couchman has impaired vision and failed to return home," police said.
Police have initiated a search for Mr Couchman, starting with a door-knock of the township, and they are appealing for members of the public to keep an eye out for him.
Mr Couchman has been described as:
- Aged 79
- Caucasian
- Six feet, or 180cm, tall
- Thin build
- Dark, slicked-back hair
He was last seen wearing:
- Grey hooded jumper with a zip on the front
- Dark green pants
- Possibly white joggers
He also regularly wears sunglasses.
A regular daily walker in Junee, it is hoped residents may have seen him walking in the area in the last 24 hours.
