With Nixon Park looking more like a mud pit rather than a football field, the Diesels and Dragons battled it out.
"We knew we had to control (Temora coach) Michael Henderson and a couple of others to try and win the game," captain Mark Halliburton said.
The first points in the game arrived in the second half with Moses Manu busting over the line in the 60th minute.
Liam Sweeney booted the conversion for a 6-nil lead.
Halliburton said the game was a good contest with the Diesels' defence keeping Temora scoreless for 71 minutes.
"They put a lot of pressure on us and in defence we just kept turning up," he said.
The return of Daniel Foley to the team had a definite impact, while Halliburton said Blake Cowled had a blinder.
"Our entire forward pack aimed up."
Halliburton said it was a magnificent effort considering many players had put in a full game in reserve grade.
With no injuries to add to the list, Halliburton said it would make it easier this weekend against the Wagga Brothers.
"There's more players available which means we don't have to play short, but we still don't have the luxury of fresh reserves, but even having people on the bench is good," Halliburton said.
"We'd love to see all our fans at Laurie Daley Oval for the last home game of the season."
He said the club was aiming to play some good footy and deliver a few wins to end the season on a high.
