At the end of this month, Arc Exploration will start operations in the shire to determine if gold mining will return.
The gold miner has access to four exploration licences across the shire, which focus on a deposit discovered in the 1980s.
However, Arc's operations will not mean any drilling will occur in Junee shire just yet.
A company spokesman said it was still "early days" and any work done by the business would be "low impact".
"Our ultimate objective is to identify if there's an economic resource," he said.
Historical records and aerial observations will be used to plan the work program before workers begin surveys and mapping on the ground.
The gold deposit which was found in the 1980s, was considered "sub-economic" as in, not valuable enough to mine.
Arc Exploration estimates there is up to 77,000 ounces or 2180 kilograms of gold in one area.
The value of gold deposit is determined by prices on the world market, expected costs to remove the resource and access to the land and to capital.
The latest operations will be examining the size and spread of the deposit and if there is any undiscovered minerals.
"We're coming to look at it with fresh eyes," the spokesman said.
There is potential more gold could be located, which could lead to mining activity.
However, the spokesman said any mining activity would be years away.
