Taking advantage of the glorious weather on Monday, students at Junee Public eagerly put on the gloves and grabbed the shovels.
Among the native trees planted was a silver princess eucalypt which was donated by Wagga's Bunnings Warehouse and Planet Ark for National Tree Day.
Turning the activity into a team-building exercise, each student helped out with their own task - from digging the hole to bedding it down.
"I enjoy outdoor learning, getting fresh air ... it's a bit of fun and better than doing some schoolwork," year 2 student Zac McDonald said.
"We should plant more trees so we can have more shade."
Zac's classmate Elyse Smallmon agreed and said it was exciting being a part of National Tree Day.
"I got to put my own plant in, a silver princess," she said.
Elyse was keen to see more trees planted as well.
"What we breath in, trees breath out."
