So far the complex has held a number of come-and-try days, one motorkhana meeting and has carved a track into one of its two paddocks.
The complex is operated by Gasworks Motorsport and chairman Kerry Phelan said there would be up to four motorkhana events held each year by Wagga District Car Club (WDCC).
Another two will be hosted this year - one on August 17 and another in September.
"It's a terrific result," Mr Phelan said.
Two tracks have been established at the Illabo Showgrounds - a motorkhana track and a dirt track.
"We're still working on improving safety standards (on the dirt track) and there are several working bees planned to establish a safety wall," Mr Phelan said.
WDCC president Peter Price said the goal of motorkhanas and the khanacross event was to give younger drivers a chance to learn car control from walking pace.
The event is open for children 12 years and older.
"It's a great way to teach kids how to use a motor car properly," he said.
Mr Price said motorkhanas were grassroots motorsport and with only basic requirements, as they were not a high-speed or racing event.
"Motorsport can be hard to get into, but this isn't expensive; two or three people can get a cheap car and run it," he said.
"If we can educate young ones and they become better drivers when they get their L or P plates, we'll be happy."
Mr Price encouraged locals to head to the Illabo Showgrounds to find out what motorkhanas were about.
"Come and support the day, it's free entry for spectators."
