The Jaguars travelled north to face the Strikers but finished with a nil-all draw.
Co-coach Isaac Cooper said Junee just couldn't finish its chances.
Cooper said the game was played almost exclusively on the midfield with neither team able to create an advantage to press the attack home.
"We went forward and had our chances ... there were a couple of good chances with their 'keeper pulling off some classy saves," he said.
Cootamundra's goalkeeper was able to defend against two one-on-one attempts, frustrating the Junee forwards.
The Striker's had just one chance to score but the ball didn't find the back of the net - even though Junee lacked experienced defender and co-coach Jason Mutimer.
"Jade Becroft had a blinder, marking on of their (Cootamundra's) strikers out of the game," Cooper said.
He said midfielder Dom Shepherd was dominant and helping out to create chances for the Jaguars.
This weekend the Jaguars will face Lake Albert at Rawlings Park on Sunday.
"It'll be a big match for us - they've got very handy forwards we've got to keep an eye out for," Cooper said.
"Our defence will have to be switched on for the entire game."
