IN FREEZING conditions, the Junee Red Cowgirls opened their season with a dominant win against Ag College at Equex.
Making her debut for the Cowgirls, Tamika Moore had her eye fixated on the goal post and hardly missed a shot.
Seasoned goal attack Amanda Crane performed solidly, as did Kellie Becquet in her new position at wing attack.
After her season ended abruptly last year due to a significant car accident, Emma Meale took the court with confidence and resolve, again supporting the Cowgirls attack, and using her height in the shooting circle.
Bec Gardner and Claire Williams were solid in defence, and Dee Mace really led the Cowgirls through the centre court.
Meg Evans was full of bounce and energy and tied the defence and attack together nicely.
Bec Kemp played her usual solid game as goal keeper.
The Cowgirls defeated Ag College 45 to 15 and are on top of the ladder.
The players' player award went to Dee Mace and coach Rachel Cooper's best on court went to Emma Meale.
The team will take on Turvey Park this Saturday at Equex from 3.30pm.

THE junior Junee Diesels under 11s opened the season last Saturday with a hard fought 16-8 win over Harden.
Brock Chisolm was first to score after good lead up work from Marshall O'Reagan and the Rogers brothers, Craig and James.
Blake Wright converted for a 6-0 lead.
Not long after Mitchell Couchman and Codey O'Rafferty made some good runs which lead to Tom Fitzgerald scoring and Riley Crane converting for a half time lead of 12-0.
Harden scored shortly after half time, but with solid defence from all the Junee side it wasn't long before Riley Crane made a good run and put his body on the line scoring in the corner.
The rest of the game was an arm wrestle with Bailey Robertson saving Junee several times with some crunching tackles.
In a great team performance Tom Fitzgerald, Blake Wright and Bailey Robertson were selected by the Harden coach as players who troubled his side.
The under 11s were also helped by Kye Wright who tackled hard all game.

JAGUARS' reserve grade women's team came away with a nil-all draw against South Wagga.
The team remains undefeated and had the majority of possession and created chances but couldn't find the back of the net.
Co-coach Craig Duncan said for Junee's performance there should have been a better outcome.
The Return of Nastarsha Miller was a highlight for the team and her solid play in central defence was pivotal and with support from Hayley Hocking, Taylah Howell, Genelle Keough and Prue Asmus, Junee was able to negate any attack the visitors could muster.
Junee played into a strong cold wind in the first half and managed to keep the scoring to nil despite the fact that the wind should have given the visitors a couple of goals had they played to their advantage.
Junee tried desperately to capitalise in the second half but equally strong defence saw their chances saved or go wide and Junee’s attack and midfield of Kara Hancock, Stephanie Johnson, Mel Garlick, Tracey Edwards, Ash Fitzgerald, Chloe Middleton and Lindsie Newham played strongly and are starting to gel and are becoming very effective.
The effort was very good by the team and they showed strength all over the park and while contending with higher status players, they showed that they will be a force to be reckoned with as the season progresses.
Best on the field was Nastarsha Miller, Genelle Keough, Ashely Fitzgerald and Taylah Howell.
