On Tuesday rough seas and showers disrupted the aerial search in the Southern Indian Ocean.
The forecast is for isolated showers increasing to heavy rain, there will be widespread low cloud, south-easterly winds, sea swells of up to 2.5 metres and visibility of one kilometre.
A statement issued by the Joint Agency Coordination Centre, which is coordinating efforts, has said “prevailing weather conditions may affect today’s air search”.
Up to 10 military aircraft and 12 ships are expected to assist in the day’s search activities.
Wednesday’s visual search area totals 37,948 square kilometres.
The centre of the search area lies approximately 855 kilometres north-west of Perth.
The autonomous underwater vehicle, Bluefin-21, is currently completing its 10th mission as part of the underwater search which is 80 per cent complete.
Nothing of interest has been found.
The focused underwater search area is defined as a circle of 10km radius around the second towed pinger locator detection, which occurred on April 8.
