The 68-year-old farmer had been attending to stock on his property south-east of Bethungra on Monday morning when the all terrain vehicle (ATV) rolled sideways down a hill, trapping him beneath it.
Despite severe pain from shoulder and arm injuries and with the ATV on top of him, the man was able to call triple-0.
While paramedics and the Volunteer Rescue Association were on their way, he was also able to call his wife in order to help them locate him.
The area where he was trapped was remote and extremely rocky and could only be accessed by foot or bike.
His wife and neighbours assisted paramedics and police with directions through the property before they were unable to drive any further.
The team were then forced to hike for 30 minutes to the farmer's location.
Once the ATV was removed, paramedics stabilised his shoulder and arm injuries before calling in the Snowy Hydro SouthCare helicopter to assist in transporting him from the area.
The man was taken to Wagga Base Hospital where is expected to make a full recovery.
