A letter written to the Southern Cross under the name of “K McCaskill” claims there are such dealers in Junee.
“I know of at least four here but nothing happens to these dealers, who are dishing out misery,” the letter reads.
The letter writer asks what has happened to Junee, saying that it is now run by drug dealers.
“I have lived in June for 20 years and these dealers are still going, laughing at the local police,” the letter says.
Mayor Lola Cummins said rumours of drugs in Junee have surfaced from time to time.“
But rumours in Junee are either spot on, or way off,” she said.
Cr Cummins believed there were drugs in many communities to some extent.“
If you looked hard enough, you could probably find some.”
Sergeant Bernie Nix said police were always willing to hear any information the public could provide about criminal activity they believed was happening.
Locals can pass on information to police by calling 6924 1144 or CrimeStoppers on 1800 333 000.
Sergeant Nix said all information was investigated, but often police needed more than an allegation to continue.“
Any information is valuable to us,” he said.
“(But) not all information can lead to a conviction.“
We need substantive details to use our investigative resources.
Sergeant Nix said any details provided by the public could often be the missing piece in the puzzle which could trigger an investigation or help close one.
