The courier business has serviced for Junee for many years and the Bourkes guided the business through the middle of a 10-year drought.
Mrs Bourke said there had been many changes over nine years, but the service had remained the same.
Everything from general freight, to alcohol, pharmaceuticals, furniture and even train engines have been delivered around Junee, with the truck’s red canvas a familiar sight to residents.
Junee Freight Lines also forms the last link in the supply chain for many of the larger businesses taking goods from Wagga to Junee.
“It’s an important link for Junee,” Mrs Bourke said.
She said when the business was put up for sale, they wanted locals to continue the work and knocked back several offers from out-of-towners.
“We wanted to sell business to a local,” she said.
Over the nine years the Bourkes had run the business, their family had pitched into help at times and they wanted to keep it a family business.
New owners Craig “Max” Walker and Kylie Sheather started their first run this week.
