IT’S STILL only January, but it hasn’t stopped the Junee Diesels from kicking off their training for the upcoming season.
Senior player Gavin Lamb said with a new coach and new players signed up for 2013 it was important for players to be at training when they could.
“We need players there regularly to work on fitness, cohesion and playing framework,” Lamb said.
The Diesels’ first grade team will be led by Jade Williams, while Damian Miles will coach reserve grade.
Tony Guthrie and Peter McDermott will coach the league tag team.
The club’s under 18s team started off on the right foot with players commencing training this week.
First grade player Geoff Bush will be the juniors’ coach and Lamb said Bush would help the younger players out.
“As hooker-half, (Bush) gets a lot of experience in the middle of the field,” he said.
Lamb said the the under 18s was the future of the club and encouraged them to head to Laurie Daley Oval on Tuesday and Friday nights from 6pm for senior training.
