THE last of the district swimming carnivals for this season took place at Harden last Sunday.
The weather conditions were not as adverse as some areas but did deteriorate during the day.
Our senior girls won the Gwen Nicholson freestyle relay trophy for 16 years and under, their third relay trophy win for this season. The team consisted of Grace Flanagan, Esther Hampton, Eli Douglas and Xenia Brookes.
In the championship events Grace Flanagan had a great day winning all five of her events, the open 100m breaststroke, open 200m IM, open 200m freestyle, 13-14 years 50m freestyle and 13-14 years 100m fly.
Xenia Brookes, 12, placed 2nd in the 11 to 12 years 50m free and 100m fly and third in the open 50m backstroke.
Esther Hampton placed third in the open 100m breaststroke and 11 to 12 years 100m fly. Jasmine Phillips, 8, second in the 8 years and under 50m freestyle. Oliver Phillips placed sixth in the 8 years and under 50m freestyle in a six-second personal best and Jack Douglas placed eighth. Julia Bonat, Serena Brookes and Eli Douglas all finished fourth in their age divisions in the 50m free in very good times considering the weather conditions.
In the non-championship events Jasmine Phillips placed first in the 50m breaststroke, backstroke and fly and brother Oliver placed first in the 50m breaststroke and backstroke, Esther Hampton first 50m breaststroke, Julia Bonat second 50m backstroke and Serena Brookes third 50m backstroke all in the age divisions.
This Wednesday night is the last of our regular club night swims, the following Wednesday the Brace Relay, a handicap event will be held.
This is a fun relay night; relays are swum in pairs.
This is open for all swimmers. This Saturday, seven Junee swimmers will be heading to Sydney to swim at the Speedo Sprints finals.
