Illabo fixture long-awaited

22 Jul, 2010 12:12 PM
ILLABO Sports Stadium has weathered the wet conditions well and is ready to host an exciting clash between the Cootmundra Tricolours and Leeton this Saturday.

A football feast for the eyes is assured, with the Cootamundra side on a roll following three great wins against Wagga City, Griffith and Rivcoll.

The Illabo game is the highlight for the Cootamundra Tricolours, as it gives many Illabo-based players a rare home game.

Drawing in the whole community, the event promises to be a relaxing day for those who look forward to watching excellent games of football.

The annual match has been a highlight of the Illabo calendar since the fixture became an annual event 10 years ago.

Despite recent rains, the grounds are in excellent condition and will provide a firm track for the game against Leeton.

The Tricolours narrowly lost to Leeton in June, however, Cootamundra’s form in recent matches suggests its fourth win in a row could be on the cards.

The reserves kick off at 1.50pm with the main game starting at 3.15pm.

The Old Boys game is due to start at 1pm and an under 9s game between Cootamundra and Tumut will be held at 12.30pm.

Meanwhile, the Illabo Giants have been training for a considerable period, but have had trouble securing an opponent.

Entry at the gate is $5, with a donation from the day being presented to the Call for Arms charity drive for men’s health.

Full kiosk facilities will be available throughout the day and presentations will take place at the Illabo Pub from 6pm.
