A BIG weekend of rugby league will hit Junee with the upcoming Schoolboys Football Carnival on Saturday and the senior Diesels hosting the Cootamundra Bulldogs.
As the biggest schoolboys carnival known, teams from all over NSW and other states will be participating in mini, mod and international rules games, with the first kick off at 9am.
Preparations for the carnival are in full swing with the mowing and marking of the fields completed with the assistance of the GEO Group.
There are 150 teams entered from a wide area, including Wodonga, Hay, Queanbeyan and Cowra as well as most centres in between.
The response with entries has once again been tremendous, with 12 teams on a reserve list after entries closed when the capacity of the 15 fields was reached.
Games kick off at 9am and continue throughout the day.
The Diesels will face the Bulldogs on Sunday, but will be without star players Damien Willis and Adam Perry.
Perry was taken out recently with knee ligament damage, while Willis sustained a similar injury during the club’s match against Southcity on Saturday.
With both being dominant players for the Diesels it was Willis’ first serious injury in four years and could see him ruled out of helping the Diesels steamroll to their first Group Nine title in 24 years.
The Diesels need the win on Sunday to remain in fourth place on the ladder.
