THE Cootamundra Dogs didn’t stand a chance against the Diesels at Willow Park on Sunday, with Junee fighting off any chance of a loss.
Fighting off an inspired Cootamundra side, the Diesels led the entire game, but were put to the test in the final 20 minutes of play as the Dogs tried to claw their way back into the top six.
Remaining in fifth spot on the ladder with a 32-20 win, Junee was off to a flying start when the clock hit the 10th minute.
Dynamic second-rower Cameron Woo burst over the line after some ball work by five-eighth Nathan McGowan to take a 6-0 lead.
Eight minutes later Josh Whitty ran 70 metres to set Sam Quinn up for a try and extend the lead.
But Cootamundra hit back to take the score to 12-4.
A good try by Woo before half-time took the scoreboard to 18-4.
After going try-for-try early in the second half, Darren Walker took the score to 32-20 with 12 minutes to go securing the win for the Diesels.
Best for the Diesels were Cameron Woo and Nathan McGowan.
The Diesels have a bye this week before taking on Brothers in round 17.
