FOR the first time Junee North had enough interested boys to field two teams in the Trent Barrett Shield.
This gave every boy in year 3 and 4, who was keen, an opportunity to play.
Junee North 1 won its final two games convincingly, after narrowly losing the first to the eventual champions.
Everyone shared the load and ensured all team members got a run, a pass or a tackle.
Cooper Buck and Blake Sutherland led the way and were outstanding with Tristan Field’s experienced leadership proving vital throughout.
Junee North 2 didn’t win any of its games but it was exciting to see the boys out in the mud giving everything their best effort.
For most, it was their first taste of tackle football.
Highlights included some barnstorming runs by Brody Longmore, Josh Hogarth and Benjamin Hindmarsh, with Ben scoring the only try of the day after a burst down the sideline. Bryton Parkhurst and Matthew Yelland pulled off some crunching tackles in defence.
