Reserves overpower high-flying Brothers

26 Aug, 2010 12:22 PM
THE Diesels reserve grade side retained third spot on the ladder with a win over the highly fancied competition leaders Brothers.

Junee captain Darryn Deacon scored two tries to give his team the 12-10 victory.

Deacon’s first try midway through the first half sent the Diesels to a 6-0 lead, but tries to Brothers just minutes either side of half-time propelled the Wagga side to a 10-6 advantage.

Junee hit the lead midway through the second half when Deacon scored his second try to put the Diesels two points in front.

Good defence from both sides extinguished the possibility of further points in the final 20 minutes, giving the Diesels victory.

Junee could take second place on the ladder if Young defeats Tumut this weekend as the Diesels get two points a forfeit from Temora which don’t have a reserve grade side.
