THE Diesels proved they are definitely finals material with a convincing with over Wagga Brothers last Sunday.
Evergreen Geremy McNamara took over the captaincy from injured Adam Perry, and the hooker showed he still has it, leading his team around the park for a memorable victory.
With young guns Jordan Walker, Josh Whitty, Tom Lidden and Cameron Woo playing a big part in the 32-4 thrashing, the Diesels look in fine form for early September.
Sione Tongia was the first to cross the line, followed shortly after by McNamara in the 20th minute.
By the time winger Gavin Lamb burst over the the line for a try off a pass from Willie Purcell in the 38th minute, the Diesels were streamrolling ahead.
Leading 20-0 at the break, Junee went on with it in the second half, scoring two more tries to seal victory.
A try to Brothers late in the game provided the
visitors’ only points.
Along with McNamara and Woo leading the forwards, Tongia and Lamb had the backline under control.
This Sunday Junee hosts the Temora Dragons.
A victory, along with a Cootamundra win over Lavington, would seal third spot for the Diesels and a home ground advantage in the semi-final.
The big day of league will kick off at 11.30pm this Sunday at Willow Park with Temora playing Lavington in the under 16s.
