At 2.45pm the Junee first graders were quiet on the field when the opening whistle blew with all the talk coming from the opposition.
Junee was unable to come up with the goods, while Lake Albert came roaring through in all areas to lead 1-0 at half-time.
Junee improved in the second half, stringing passes together, making line breaks and winning headers.
Lake Albert scored two more goals to come out 3-0 victors.
The highlight performance was from Daniel Halliburton, winner of the players’ player award.
On Sunday afternoon Junee had two tough matches against competition favourite Lake Albert.
The reserve grade team took to the field at 12.45pm and had a brilliant first half.
However, Junee was unlucky enough to be down 1-0 at the break.
The second half started differently, with Junee throwing everything at Lake Albert, but Lake Albert’s defence proved too strong. Junee conceded another goal, leaving the final score 2-0 in favour of the visitors.
Best for the day were Carl Baldry, Daniel Halliburton, Jason Mutimer and Peter Hayman.
Junee third grade played Uranquinty in what turned out to be a an entertaining game.
The game started well for Uranquinty with most of the play in its attacking half for the first 10 minutes.
Junee’s defence held solid with stand in ’keeper Fletcher Cook making some good saves.
Junee scored midway through the half with a well-placed shot from Dan Buckmaster.
This seemed to spur the opposition on and with some good build- up it scored the equaliser a few minutes before half-time and backed it up quickly with a second.
Junee went into the break 2-1 down.
In the second half, Junee held off many raids by ‘Quinty.
Eventually, a somewhat dubious penalty was awarded and the score was 2-2.
Both teams pushed hard for the winner and it seemed Uranquinty had done just that when one of its players clashed with David Hart on the goal line and an own goal resulted.
The final blow came for Junee when PJ Waterson ran onto a through ball supplied by Tom Crowder, blasting the ball into the net to take the final score to 3-3.
Best on ground points went to Fletcher Cook, Craig Watt, Adam Baldock and Tom White.
