IN round seven of the Group Nine competition, the Diesels headed to Temora in what promised to be a great afternoon of exciting rugby league.
The first grade game kicked off with strong defence from both sides in a tough first half.
The second half started with the Diesels scoring some great tries on the back of a good kicking game from Nathan McGowan and some hard-hitting defence.
With a couple big hits from centre Sione Tongia, the Diesels were able to score some entertaining triesto register a thumping win over the Temora Dragons.
The final score was 56-22, with Damien Willis getting four tries in another standout performance.
Other strong performers were Nathan Smith, Cameron Woo and Jordan Walker, with players’ player going to Sione Tongia.
The Diesels do not play this weekend because of the competition’s general bye for the long weekend.
In reserve grade the Diesels came out firing on all cylinders, scoring some entertaining tries on their way to a commanding victory.
The team defended well, with the only try to Temora coming from a lucky charge down of a Junee kick.
But that was the only time the Dragons got across the line against the Diesels, with the final score 56-6.
All played well with standout performances from Daryn Deacon, Tom Diggins and Adam Huard, along with Glen Shaw, who scored two tries.
Players’ player went to Daryn Deacon after another strong performance.
The under 18s had a tough match and put in a good effort in patches.
But they fell away toward the end of the match to a very good Temora team, losing 40-8.
The league tag match was a tough game for the girls, but the team stuck to its guns.
Temora eventually ran out the winner 28-12, with players’ player going to Elise Smith.
