Diesels on hunt for new sponsor

17 Jun, 2010 11:58 AM
JUNEE Diesels Football Club president Simon Vanzanten said the club was in positive spirits despite the loss of its major sponsor.

The club’s major sponsorship deal was signed at the start of the 2010 season with the Commercial Hotel.

However, with the hotel now under new management, the Diesels were prompted to look into opening up the playing field to gain a new sponsor.

Talks have begun with a number of local pubs and clubs and current sponsors to give the club the best available options to round out the rest of the season.

“The Diesels are in a great position and are currently looking at renegotiating the sponsorship for the 2010 season,” Mr Vanzanten said.

The club is also benefiting from a Department of Sport and Recreation grant.

“We have actually received a grant from the department for $9600 to go towards registration, jumpers and fuel,” Mr Vanzanten said.

The club hoped to have the sponsorship in order within the coming weeks, he said.

The Diesels are preparing for this weekend’s clash with Lavington at Willow Park.
