Diesels may be forced to withdraw juniors from competition

25 Mar, 2010 10:59 AM
JUNEE Diesels Football Club may have to withdraw their under 16s team from the 2010 competition unless more potential players come forward.

The club is struggling to gain numbers for the side, which last year won the grand final, with only twelve players so far putting up their hand.

So far seven players have registered for under 16s and five players from under 15s have registered to say they too will play for under 16s.

Club president Simon Vanzanten said the club needs five more players to register in order for the team to have enough players to cover injuries.

Many Group Nine clubs are struggling to gain the numbers for the under 16s competitions.

The Diesels will be providing free registration and transport for under 16 players to and from games.

The club has until tomorrow Friday, March 26, to have players interested to register their names.

The club is inviting all players interested in playing in the Group Nine under 16s competition and their parents, coaches and managers to a free barbecue at the Commercial Hotel tomorrow night, March 26, at 6pm to discuss the upcoming season.

For more information contact Simon Vanzanten on 0427 532 750.
