Darts aims to build popularity

09 Feb, 2012 06:30 AM
DARTS continues to grow in Junee with 16 players competiting at the last meeting.

Instead of playing for the highest score, prizes were awarded for the highest pegout, with players aiming to end the game with a score above 40 points.

The change mixed the game up a little with plenty of good darts thrown, Darren O’Rafferty pegged out on a solid 75 points.

The women’s prize wasn’t won last week, so the prize will jackpot for the next meeting.

Norma Hampton, playing with Jim Considine, threw some good scores.

Terry Hampton, partenered with Hayden Sayers, went through undefeated until the final in which they came up against O’Rafferty and Ted Lindley who went on to win for the night.

There were some good scores thrown with both teams needing double four to pegout, O’Rafferty being the ultimite winner.

Residents can head to the Junee Ex-Services Club on Tuesday nights for darts, with names for the draw needed by 6.30pm and games starting at 7pm.
