THE Jack Rose Trophy will be awarded to the best men’s or the best women’s team playing at the Junee Ex-Services Club.
Junee Ex-Services Bowling Club has brought the Jack Rose trophy out of the cupboard with a new competition starting on Thursday, January 19.
Absent for the past few years, the trophy competition began in 1985 with teams of men and women vying for the prize.
In the past Junee’s men have dominated, with women only winning the competition twice, in 1995 and 2007.
Running for three to five weeks, games will be played on Thursday nights with registration for the competition for interested pairs closing on January 19 at 6pm and play beginning at 6.30pm.
The club is encouraging interested bowlers to get their names in sooner rather than later to help determine the
format of the competition.
Jack Rose’s wife donated the trophy to the club after her husband, a dedicated bowler at Junee Ex-Services Club, passed away.
