THE Junee Paceway will come alive over the two-night Pacers Cup Carnival on Saturday and Tuesday nights.
Saturday will feature the heats of the Boulevarde Motor Inn Junee Pacers Cup and the final will be held at the Carnival Of Cups meeting on Tuesday, January 26.
The highlight of the two great nights of harness racing is the prestigious Junee Pacers Cup.
The format of running the heats on the Saturday night and the final on Australia Day evening has been very successful with some good horses winning the title over the past 40 years.
Some of the past local winners include: Welcome Most, who was trained and driven by Arma Harris in 1970.
Just Too Good won in 1972 and the great Paleface Adios (1973), both driven by Colin Pike.
Arma again took the title in 1979 with Bye Bye Honey.
Sea Faring, who was trained and driven by Allan Harpley won in 1982 and Under Sufference, trained by Keith Turner and driven by his son Phillip, won in 1984.
Heroic Byrd, trained and driven by Trevor White won in 1986, Spring Walton, driven by Bruce Harpley (2000), and Artifactor, who is locally owned by the Allamby family and trained by Junee boy Brian Hancock was the victor last year.
Both nights will be full of entertainment with the ever-popular Calcutta again being held with tickets sold on Saturday night.
The draw and auction will take place on Tuesday night prior to the running of the Pacers Cup Final.
Vocal Entertainment and the Country Meadows Best Dressed Lady on course will be part of the activities throughout the night.
The first race on both Saturday and Tuesday nights will commence at 7.15pm.
