A CLOSE game in the major singles was played last Sunday as Bryan Purse withstood a strong comeback from Peter Guinan to win 31 to 27.
Down 27 to 19, Guinan won six ends in a row to bring the score back to 27-all. However his charge came to an end when Purse won the next two ends to emerge victorious.
Bryan now has to play Brett Fanning in the second semi-final, with the winner to play Martin Holmes for the Club Championship.
Four games were played in the minor singles and last Wednesday, Noel Lawson had a tough encounter with Matty Glass, however, with the scores locked together at 22-all, Noel dug deep to win the match 31 to 23.
Last Sunday saw Jed Passlow come from behind to beat Murray Dobson 31 to 29
and Sean Smith also coming from behind finished too strong for Dieter Ptashchinski 31 to 27.
In the other Minor`s game, Roy Woodall was too good for Glen Fanning 31 to 13.
Last Wednesday, 16 bowlers played afternoon social bowls, using fours rinks to
contest a pairs competition. Finishing well ahead of the other teams was Sean Smith and Maureen Thompson on 23 points, Glenn Fanning and Clinton Cochrane finished second overall with 19 points.
King of the green was contested last weekend and Harry Thompson took Glen Fanning’s crown with a four to two win.
Because this Saturday is Anzac Day, the final home and away game will be played on May 2.
