THE Diesels came out on top against Temora on Sunday, winning 34-18.

Coach Adam Perry was pleased with the first grade team’s effort in the first half, saying it played “really well with good field position and so followed the game plan”.

This enabled the boys to pile on 22 unanswered points in the first half.

Brad Nicoll, playing fullback, scored the first four points 12 minutes into the game.

Six minutes later he was followed onto the scoresheet by Mark Halliburton, who was able to force his way over the line.

But it was Damien Willis, playing five-eighth, who starred with the next two tries.

The first try was the result of some beautiful running

and passing from Brad Pope to Chris Lewis to secure Willis with a try under the post.

The second try occurred in the last five minutes of the half.

Willis intercepted a Temora pass in front of their posts to run the length of the field to score.

However, Junee did not control the second half at all.

Instead, it dropped passes and gave away penalties rather than concentrating on positively scoring points.

Temora scored three unanswered converted tries to have 18 points on the board 25 minutes into the half.

With three minutes to full-time Cameron Woo, playing his first game for the year after a serious knee injury last year, ran 20 metres to score a determined a try which was then converted.

The win secured the Diesels fifth spot on the ladder,

with a game against Brothers on Saturday at Macdonald Park certain to see the Diesels play well for the full term.
