THE long trip to Tumbarumba is never easy, but nonetheless 18 Junee players turned up to defeat the Tumbarumba Greens by 44 points to 8.
This had the added bonus of lifting the reserves to fourth position on the ladder.
The sun was out in the first half and this spurred the Diesels on to send Aaron Bond flying over the line in the first minute.
Tumbarumba scored the next try, but after that it was all Junee.
Rhys Clemson, scored a lovely try from the dummy-half position.
Nathan Smith and Daniel Pratt were the next to score.
Pratt’s try brought the half time score to Junee 20; Tumbarumba 4.
The rain started again in the second half, but Chris Lewis ran away for the first try of the stanza.
Michael Diggins ran 50 metres in a brilliant side stepping run for the next.
Simon Bond, Daniel Pratt and Chris Lewis scored the next three trys.
However, Junee let Tumba-rumba in for the final try in the last minute, but it was to no avail, as Junee defeated Tumbarumba by 44 points to 8.
Chris Lewis, Nathan Charlton, Simon Wilson, Rhys Clemson, Aaron and Simon Bond and Darren Walker played well for Junee, with Simon Wilson receiving the Players’ Player and Chris Lewis the Coach’s Award.
Coach Paul Diggins said he was pleased with the way they had been training.
