Bad conditions for shoot-off

28 May, 2009 10:14 AM
THE Junee Rifle Club hosted the Riverina District Champion of Champions match, on Sunday, May 24.

Conditions were difficult, due to the strong easterly winds.

The longer ranges were cancelled after targets began to break off.

The program was altered to the shorter 400-metre range, which uses a smaller target.

Fortunately all held together and the day was completed with one 300m range shot then three ranges at 400m.

Target rifle scores: Spencer Dunstall of Ungarie 196-18, John Young of Junee 192-14, Graham Crowe of Explorers 190-14, Lee Wood of Tumut 187-12, Graham Green of Cootamundra183-9.

F/class standard scores: John Oddy of Tumut 223, Anthony Hall of Junee 218 and John Seberry of Explorers 208.

The annual meeting of the Junee Ex-Services Rifle Club was held recently.

At a well-attended meeting, all positions were filled.

The club captain is Mike Halloran, who can be reached on 6926 3811. Secretary is Rob Halloran (6922 3689).

The Junee Rifle Club is now registered as a hunting club, as well as a target rifle club.

It is affiliated with the Sporting Shooters Association.

The next club shoot at Junee will be next Sunday, May 31 from 9am.
