THE boys took on Young Public School in the second round of matches.
As expected, Young proved a much tougher proposition than Junee North’s first-round opponent.
Young dominated the second half and its outstanding passing was rewarded with a bundle of goals.
Although down 3-0 at the half-time break, Junee North had performed quite well.
Brad Targett was superb in goal, making numerous saves and deflections to thwart the opposition.
However, Junee North struggled to put any real pressure on Young’s defence, or move the ball consistently out of its own third of the field for that matter.
Best on field was Justin Jenkins, who was consistently in the right place and maintained his skill level against talented opposition.
Cameron Hart was another who held up well, while Ricky Russell and Lance Atkinson also impressed.
Callum McCarthy, Nick White and Ben Turner faced a major adjustment going against older players on a larger field than they usually play on.
However, they showed they have the intelligence, fitness and, most importantly, skill to adapt for the future.
Bailey Whitmore had his moments up front but lacked opportunities, while Reuben Bondareff had his ups and downs at the back and will be a better player for the experience.
Kauri Deacon, Blake Sutherland, Cooper Buck and Liam Hughes had far less time and space than in the previous round, but their effort level did not falter.
