THE senior girls met Henwood Park Kestrels on Saturday and came away with a morale-boosting 4-0 win.
The team played some good football with solid defence and marking, along with some thoughtful passing and movement of the ball across the park, which gave them opportunities to pressure the Kestrels’ defence and score some brilliant goals.
Jess Smith scored a memorable hat-trick, while Kayla Wright also put one in the back of the net.
Kara Hancock is playing exceptional football at the moment and leading by example with her solid work in attack and defence.
She was ably supported by Ashley Fitzgerald, Ashley Hart and Chelsea McGregor, who are beginning to get more involved in the games.
Kayla Wright, Emma Tuner and Keeley Hancock were the mainstays of the Junee defence, with all players giving nothing away to the opposition.
Emma’s strong kicking set Junee away on many attacking raids, while Keeley’s persistence and smart work in defence stopped the Kestrels from making any worthwhile forward progress.
Kayla’s vision gave her lots of time to stop anything the Kestrels could put up in attack.
It was a good effort and offers promise if the players can continue their current progress and keep on performing to this level each game.
The girls have set the bar high over the past couple of weeks and have exceeded it each week.
Best on the day were Keeley Hancock, Emma Turner, Kayla Wright and Jess Smith in a good team performance.
