Revenge for Red Cow in 40-over competition

04 Feb, 2010 11:03 AM
AT Burns Park on Saturday, the Red Cow managed to put aside last weekend’s Twenty20 grand final loss to the Stallions to beat them by five wickets in the 40-over competition.

Red Cow won the toss and chose to bowl first and that decision paid off instantly as Trent Charlton collected the wicket of Daniel Pratt, thanks to a great catch by Dean Scupin with the fourth ball of the innings.

Wickets fell regularly in the following overs, as Charlton and Shaun McNamara destroyed the Stallions batting line up and had them reeling at 6-20 in the sixth over.

Tom Crowder then came to the crease still in Twenty20 mode and blasted the ball all over the ground to make a well-made 65 runs.

He was well supported by Jaydan and Pete Alkemade, who managed to occupy the crease with Crowder.

Stallions were eventually bowled out for 107 in the 21st over with all the Cow bowlers getting amongst the wickets.

Red Cow got off to a poor start chasing down the Stallions’ small total as Joe Crowder took early wickets, and found themselves at 3-10 after four overs.

Nath Charlton rescued the Red Cow innings though, and continued his good form with the bat, making a quickfire 50 runs.

Adam Peade also got amongst the runs with a solid 23 not out.

Red Cow passed the Stallions total in the 16th over with five wickets down.

Joe Crowder was best for the Stallions with the ball taking 4-32 off seven overs.

Red Cow has the bye this weekend, while Stallions play Gundagai Colts at Burns Park this Saturday.
