Moon, Hart in a close contest

JUNIOR cricket returned to Loftus Oval last weekend with two close games beginning with Moon and Hart facing off on Loftus one.

Moon batted first and ran up a total of 91 to Hart’s 86.

A Shepherd was the standout batsman for Moon scoring 25 not out and was supported by T Scott, who scored 17 not out.

Lachlan Moon, Z Shepherd and J Hamilton were the only bowlers to pick up wickets for Hart.

At the crease for Hart, Z Shepherd scored 13, while J Hamilton scored 13 not out and T Waghord 10 not out.

A Shepherd demonstrated his all-round ability bowling two batsmen and running another one out.

On Loftus two, Ponting took on Clake, with Clake just scraping home with 51 runs to Ponting’s 46.

Poining’s batsmen were consistent with E Sainsbury scoring eight, C Judd seven and B Smith seven.

H Hume was not out six.

Best bowler C Alkemade picked up three wickets for just six runs.

E Sainsbury also stood out with the ball for Ponting, taking two wickets for seven runs.

Clarke then came to bat and W McGrath made a handy 16 and played with J Butler, who scored 13.

In the end Clarke pushed past Ponting by five runs.
