THE Red Cow Hotel are the Hogan Cup premiers after easily accounting for the Junee Stallions by 154 runs in the grand final at Gundagai on Saturday.
Stallions won the toss and chose to bowl first and that decision paid off straight away as Tom Crowder dismissed Trent Charlton with his second delivery.
Nathan Charlton and Brad Willis then combined for a 108-run partnership and at drinks, The Cow were in a good position with only a wicket down.
After drinks Tom Diggins removed both batsmen with some accurate bowling.
Mick Butler and Mitch Druce then combined for a 109-run partnership to take the total well over 200 before both fell in the pursuit of quick runs.
Brett Dobson cleaned up the middle order and was the pick of the Stallions bowlers with five wickets, while Joe Crowder was outstanding in the field and took some amazing catches. After 40 overs the Red Cow ended with 8/259.
Stallions got away to a fast start in their pursuit of the total with Tom Crowder taking 20 runs off the 1st over.
Shaun McNamara put a halt to that however, claiming four quick wickets which had the Stallions in deep trouble.
Ben White offered some resistance in the middle order with a solid 23 runs, as did Tom Diggins, but wickets fell around them and the Stallions were eventually bowled out for 105
in the 24th over with all of The
Cow bowlers getting among the wickets.
Both Junee teams would like to thank the Red Cow Hotel and the Junee Ex-Services Club for their fantastic support throughout the season and to all the supporters who made the trip to Gundagai on Saturday.
