02 Feb 12 | THE pennants season starts next Sunday at the Junee Bowling Club. Winners of the Australia Day social bowls were Brian Smith, Noel Lawson and Ian Cooper on 32 points, runners up were Sean Smith, Lyle Billingham and Martin Holmes on 25 points.
Teenager dominates fun run
02 Feb 12 | A BIG crowd turned out to the annual Australia Day fun run organised by Junee Junction Recreation and Aquatic Centre (JJRAC) and the GEO Group. More than 135 people braved the early wake-up call to be at the start line on Park Lane at 7.30am to complete a 4.5-kilometre run across town.
02 Feb 12 | HUGE crowds flocked to the Junee Paceway on Thursday night, eager to celebrate Australia Day with quality harness racing. With hundreds of punters and families scattered around the track, Junee Harness Racing Club secretary Joanne Judd admitted she couldn’t be happier with the turnout.
Rollers raise cash
02 Feb 12 | JUNEE Bowling Club’s greens were busy over the weekend with almost 200 people taking to the field in aid of Junee Can Assist. At 6pm last Friday, the first of 180 bowlers rolled a bowl down the greens and for the next 24 hours, there was always at least four games being played.
26 Jan 12 | JUNEE’S dart throwers have had another sucessful week with 16 players competing. Don Ray travelled from Cootamundra with his wife and two young children and, together with with Darren O’Rafferty as his partner, threw undefeated.
26 Jan 12 | BOWLERS at the Junee Bowling Club will be busy with some major competition events coming to town. The club’s major pairs classic will be held over three days next month, starting from February 14, with 27 teams entered from across NSW.
Jail chips in for Aust Day fun run
26 Jan 12 | WHEN was the last time you went for a run with the family? Some Junee residents were up early today to take part in the annual Australia Day Jail Break Fun Run, organised by Junee Junction Recreation and Aquatic Centre (JJRAC) and the GEO Group.
26 Jan 12 | SIX-a-side games last Wednesday saw some very close matches and a couple of blow-outs but the main interest was in the top-of-the-table clashes between Dirtbags and Hell Raisers, and Silverbacks and Team Judd.

26 Jan 12 | THE Junee Jaguars are preparing for the season ahead with senior training commencing at Burns Park next week. Looking to build on the success of last year, when the team moved up the ladder, all senior players will be working to improve their standing.
19 Jan 12 | DARTS at the Junee Ex-Services Club has resumed after the Christmas break with 19 residents having some brilliant throws. Only social darts is being played at the moment with all players into a draw and then a winners and losers draw afterwards.
19 Jan 12 | THE pennants season kicks off for players at the Junee Bowling Club on Saturday, February 4. Any players who are unavailable for the season should advise selectors as soon as possible.
19 Jan 12 | SOME cracking games of soccer were played at Burns Park last week as the summer six-a-side competition returned for 2012. The women’s competition is close with the top seven teams being separated by a mere five points and the men’s competition is similar with only six points separating the top five teams.

19 Jan 12 | FANCY having a midnight bowl? Junee Can Assist and Junee Bowling Club are joining forces to help raise awareness of exposure to the sun and to be cancer aware with a 24-hour bowling event.
Pacers Cup builds up
19 Jan 12 | THE Junee Harness Racing Club has two huge events on for racegoers in the next week with the first of a couple of big nights of racing starting this Saturday. Heats for the Milbrae Quarry’s Pace begin on Saturday with the final to be concluding on Thursday, January 26.
12 Jan 12 | THE Junee Paceway’s next race meeting will be on Saturday, January 21 before the massive Australia Day meeting on January 26. Racing begins at 7pm on January 21, with the fields likely to be competitive.
12 Jan 12 | Soccer resumed at Burns Park last night after the Christmas / new year break and it is expected that January will follow tradition with some strange results as a large number of players will still be away on holidays.
Rose trophy is back on agenda
12 Jan 12 | THE Jack Rose Trophy will be awarded to the best men’s or the best women’s team playing at the Junee Ex-Services Club. Junee Ex-Services Bowling Club has brought the Jack Rose trophy out of the cupboard with a new competition starting on Thursday, January 19.
Cricketers hit SCG
12 Jan 12 | AMONG the crowd at the 100th Test match at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) was a squad of Junee cricketers watching history being made. The players got to see Australia captain Michael Clarke declare with the highest individual score recorded at the SCG and former captain Ricky Ponting get his 40th century during his 100th test.
Brigade has Billie-Rose on track for competition
22 Dec 11 | THE quest to get young athlete Billie-Rose Deacon to Canada to compete against some of the best young athletes in the world is progressing smoothly. Local businesses and residents have provided some much-needed assistance to the 14-year-old, who is fund-raising for the cost of travelling to the northen hemisphere.
22 Dec 11 | ROY BUCKLEY, Steven Smith, Peter Guinan and skip Warren Charlton are the new champions of the Junee Bowling Club’s major fours tournament. Last weekend Charlton’s team decisively defeated Tony McAuliffe, Jed Passlow, Brett Fanning and skip Allen Shaw, 28-11.
