Thought sought on return of festival

26 Aug, 2010 11:40 AM
JUNEE’s one-off Rhythm and Rail Festival may be making its return in March 2011.

Keen to see the festival brought back to life, Junee Shire Council tourism development officer Linda Tillman said the returning event would by styled on the highly successful Wind in the Roundhouse concert.

This event will be run differently to the inaugral Rhythm and Rail Festival in 2008, according to Mrs Tillman.

“It will be approached quite differently to the last festival in that there will be no organising committee or festival co-ordinator to manage the event,” she said.

“All community groups and businesses intereted in being involved will be responsible for organising and managing their particular activity.

“The idea is to build on the already successful Wind in the Roundhouse and create a weekend of activities in Junee to entice visitors to increase their length

of stay in town.

While the festival’s go-ahead is still to be determined, Mrs Tillman has called for intertested individuals and businesses to take part in a community meeting to be held at the Junee Ex-Services Memorial Club on Thursday, October 7.

The meeting starts at 6pm.
