WORK on the Broadway Athenium is on schedule to be completed by the end of August.
The refurbishment has taken shape with construction work well advanced towards having the theatre brought up to modern construction codes.
Over the past seven weeks work completed has been completed above the dress circle and is steadily moving towards the back of the theatre, according to Junee Shire Council development and community services manager Anthony Newland.
“It is on target and progressing well,” he said.
“Painting is well advanced and it has cleaned up the whole look a lot to be more reflective to light.”
He said plumbing work had been completed and electrical work was under way.
With most of the cost of the project going to replumbing and rewiring of the building, Mr Newland said most of the work to the Athenium would not be seen by visitors’ eyes.
Despite this, the first visitors to get a look inside the improved building will see a theatre with a striking new facelift, amenities and lighting, making it ready for the community to use.
Four new pendant lights will be hung from the ceiling to finish around six metres from the floor to improve lighting to the building.
The floor of the theatre will also be sanded and polished.
