Tea time a big boost for Cancer Council

Tea time a big boost for Cancer Council

20 May, 2010 11:25 AM
TEA parties will not only be a mad hatter’s delight next week.

Junee residents will be able to enjoy a hot cup of tea, steaming coffee and delicious cakes next week as the Junee Library hosts Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea.

Last year’s event raised over $450, but this year the library is hoping to raise the bar with a little help from it’s new location.

Hoping the library’s Lorne Street location will draw more people to the event, librarian Kim Richards said it promised to be a wonderful social event to support the Cancer Council.

With many lives touched by the devastating effects of cancer, it is a day for people to recognise and donate to the need for ongoing support and funding towards cancer research.

Donations from the day will go towards the running of the Cancer Council help line, allowing health professionals to gain educational resources, support of patients and carers, sun smart education and funding research into causes of cancer and new ways to improve treatments.

Those who attend the day and donate $10 to the cause can go into a draw to win a holiday to Europe valued a over $12,000.

The trip includes tickets to London and travels through Paris, Rome, Munich and Frankfurt.

Any businesses or groups which raise money for the day, but are unregistered, are invited to pass on their donations to the library for banking.
