ONE OF Illabo’s great community-organised events has come to an end with more than 100 people in the talent quest and a see of caravans descending on the small village.
Caravans started arriving more than 10 days ago in preparation for the event, which has been running for 24 years.
Returning guest artists for 2011 included Jamie Davis from Tasmania and local Peter Pratt.
Mr Pratt performed with John and Edith Pratt which was a special performance, with Bill and Janis Ingram from Temora remarking how special it was to see it.
Publicity officer Caroline Willis said visitors love coming back year after year because of the casual atmosphere, campfire cooking and the excellent country music.
“It was fabulous,” said Mrs Willis.
The event was well attended and many visitors were reluctant to leave after the stampede had finished because of the great time they had.
As one of the few talent quests to offer a backing
band, many entrants use the show to improve their performance skills and hone their craft.
The ever-popular Sunday markets were held in the morning with many local vendors showcasing handmade products including pottery, condiments, cream and candles.
Mrs Willis said it was an absolute team effort from the local community to run a successful stampede.
