Residents forced to switch

19 Jan, 2012 06:00 AM
SOME televisions in Junee will not be displaying a signal from today with the analogue frequency turned off, months ahead of the schedule in NSW.

Originally set for June, the repeater station in Beach Street will be deactivated and there are some residents in Junee who haven’t prepared for the change as yet.

While the digital signal has been broadcasting for three years in Junee, retailer Glenn Harbrow of Bi-Rite Electrical said there had been a significant increase in people looking to upgrade their analogue televisions and stock was tight.

The upcoming change had meant Mr Harbrow had been working to fix aerials across with Junee with some needing realigning and others needing replacement.

Mr Harbrow said he expected to hear from some residents who would find their TVs no longer worked as of today.

The Australia Burearu of Statistics estimated 20 per cent of homes in Junee needed a set-top box or new TV.
