LOCK your car, house and even your windows.
This is the message from police after a spate of property thefts over the last two weeks which includes 15 cars broken into, 11 cars stolen and 26 break and enters in homes and businesses.
Wagga Local Area Command acting superintendent Rod Smith said the offences are clearly related.
“We believe there is a small number of people responsible for the majority of these offences. There are some distinct patterns here.
“The northern sectors of Ganmain, Coolamon, Junee and Temora have suffered an increase and we are exploring whether each of these offences are related,” he said.
He said out of all the areas hit, three suburbs in Wagga were the hardest hit.
During the spate 15 cars were broken into with items including iPods, wallets, handbags, phones and cash stolen with each occurring within Wagga and 11 cars were stolen.
“We are urging people to keep their eyes and ears open.
“To help protect yourself from becoming a victim, I urge people to lock your cars, lock your doors and windows at home (even when at home).
“Make your car and house unattractive to a thief. Thieves are opportunistic and look for the slightest chance to take your property.
