RESIDENTS are taking up the chance to meet with local police officers in the newly established community consultation hours.
However, the visits are off to a slow start.
Junee duty officer Inspector Craig Ireland said response to the meetings had not been overwhelming,
but right on par with what was expected.
“We’ve been getting about one or two people each week, which is what we expected.”
Local police officers compile a weekly report on the consultations, including the number of visitors, phone calls to the station and issues which have been brought up by the community.
“We’ve only had (a couple) of weeks so far with people making complaints about things like youths throwing rocks.”
“It’s being used for what it was intended for.”
Insp Ireland said the Tuesday meetings between 5pm and 7pm will continue to be in place and he encourages the community to make use of it. The program is expected to be reviewed in the coming months.
