HUNDREDS of motorbikes will be roaring through Junee on Saturday, February 4 for the annual Junee Poker Run.
Organised for the eighth year running, the run needed some extra space and has moved to the Junee Golf Club to accomodate more than 500 people expected to arrive.
Visitors and locals will be able to feast on a barbecue breakfast cooked by Junee Fire and Rescue brigade while motorcylcists arrive at the club.
This year’s poker run will include a brief ride through town before heading out on a 240-kilometre round trip – the destinations which will be revealed on the day.
Last year more than 300 riders arrived and co-organiser Ron Hindmarsh said he was expecting more to arrive for 2012.
Everything on two wheels, from Harleys to Hondas is welcome and for those without a motorcycle, there will be a coach following the run.
Mr Hindmarsh said this year the run and Junee would attract national coverage through a motorcycling magazine documenting the run.
After the run is completed the blues night will start with the first band hitting the right notes from 6.45pm.
Crowd favourite Mississippi Shakedown will be there plus the Powerhouse Blues Band and singer-songwriter from Canberra, Owen Campbell.
Entry to the poker run is $25 which includes lunch and entry to the blues night at the Junee Golf Club, or entry to the blues night alone is $10.
Proceeds raised from the poker run will be donated to the Junee Can Assist branch and Junee’s Volunteer Rescue Association.
Can Assist’s major raffle will be drawn on the night of the poker run with tickets only $5. First prize is a $3000 travel voucher, second is a $1000 BCF voucher and third is $500 worth of petrol.
